What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Busser/Runner position at Brown Butter Depot?
Job Summary
We are seeking a candidate with a willingness to work primarily in a hosting/bussing capacity, but who would also be able to cover Food Running shifts, on an as needed basis. Ideal candidates will possess a work history that reflects previous Hosting employment.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage waitlist or reservations using systems like OpenTable or similar platforms
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
- Clear and reset tables efficiently, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout service
- Assist servers by delivering food and beverages promptly, ensuring timely service for guests
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and restocking supplies as needed
- Support food preparation and kitchen staff with basic tasks when required, including food handling and meal assembly
- Uphold food safety standards and adhere to proper sanitation procedures at all times
Skills
- Previous host/hostess or busser experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong customer service skills with excellent phone etiquette and communication abilities
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for order processing and cashiering
- Knowledge of food service operations, including bussing, food running, and basic catering support
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure
- Basic culinary skills such as knife handling, meat cutting, or meal preparation are a plus
- Experience with dietary accommodations and food safety protocols to ensure guest satisfaction and safety
