Summary
The Burn and Trauma Center Nurse Director provides leadership for the hospital’s trauma and burn services in accordance with Florida trauma system statutes, administrative rules, and American Burn Association verification standards. The Director is responsible for program evaluation, registry governance, quality improvement, education, and outreach, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and compliant trauma and burn care across the continuum.
The Director maintains authority and accountability for program performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement in collaboration with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
The Burn and Trauma Center Nurse Director provides strategic, clinical, and 24/7 operational leadership for the Burn and Trauma Services line. This role is accountable for 24/7 nursing operations, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, financial stewardship, and staff engagement within a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment. The Director ensures delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care consistent with American College of Surgeons (ACS) trauma verification standards and burn center accreditation requirements.

Education
- Master’s degree obtained through a formal accredited program, MSN preferred.
- Seven years of related experience; at least one to three years of burn leadership experience and Level I or Level II trauma center experience.
- Demonstrated success in regulatory survey readiness and performance improvement.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or holds a multi-state nursing license; or able to obtain license prior to start is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification required.
- Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certification required.
- One of the following certifications strongly preferred at hire: Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Burn RN, (CBRN), or required within 1 year of hire.
