Job Profile Summary
Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Training Director or Associate Vice President’s designee, the Training Coordinator assists with all training components for the Department of Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness (DSSEP) staff and facilitates emergency preparedness education for the broader college community. The role ensures that non-sworn Public Safety Officers and campus stakeholders are equipped to respond to critical incidents, including evacuations and active assailant threats. In addition, the Training Coordinator supports other departmental initiatives and performs related duties as directed to meet operational and preparedness needs.
The Training Coordinator also provides general and refresher instruction to Public Safety Department personnel on patrol duties, first aid, ethics, community relations, and campus safety.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- Six years of experience in law enforcement or public safety
- An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered.
Minimum Certification:
- Florida General Instructor Techniques certification preferred.
- Incident Command System (ICS) certifications (e.g., IS-100, 700).
- Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (current or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe).
- Additional FEMA/ICS coursework preferred (e.g., IS-200, IS-800; ICS-300/400 as required by assignment).
- Active assailant/violence prevention instructor credentials (e.g., ALICE) preferred.
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate public safety radio systems and life-safety equipment such as AEDs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience as a full-time instructor.
- Experience developing a new-hire academy and maintaining an annual in-service training program for a public safety organization.
- Experience supporting emergency management exercises (tabletop, functional, and full-scale) and documenting outcomes.
- Working knowledge of accreditation or compliance frameworks applicable to campus public safety training programs.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, and classroom presentation technologies.

Salary Range:
$52,900 - $62,158 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
