What are the responsibilities and job description for the Captain, Public Safety (Multiple Vacancies) position at Broward College?
Under general direction, this district-wide administrative position is responsible for assisting the AVP for Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness in the administration and oversight of the Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness. Design short-term and long-term strategies for continuous improvement of Campus Safety. The incumbent may be assigned to coordinate and oversee the operational aspects of the organization or the support and administrative functions, as well as act on behalf of the AVP in his/her absence.
This position is college wide and requires travel between campuses.
Minimum Education:
- Master’s degree required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Ten years of public safety experience and five years of management experience.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- Class E Driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Developing and implementing strategic plans, policies and budget
- Experience with the management of CCTV, access control platforms, and physical security and safety systems
- Development and implementation of formal personnel development programs
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Certification
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
