Well-established and growing law firm specializing in Estate Planning and Administration located in Garden City, NY is currently seeking a Paralegal with 2-3 years of experience in Estate Administration, who will provide support to attorneys and clients. The role entails performing a wide range of complex estate administration functions requiring knowledge of trusts, estate planning, investments and probate and tax laws while maintaining a high level of client contact. Inherent in this role is the need to regularly meet new challenges with an open mind, be solutions-oriented, and provide timely and accurate communications. The nature of this position includes extensive exposure to trusts, estate planning and investment portfolio review. Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are absolutely essential.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of probate petitions and ancillary documents;
- Assist with collection and retitling of assets;
- Prepare beneficiary designation forms for life insurance, retirement benefits, annuity contracts;
- Assist with sale and transfer of assets;
- Prepare correspondence to beneficiaries and creditors;
- Preparation of federal and state estate tax returns;
- Prepare fiduciary accountings;
- Preparation of Receipts and Releases in connection with distributions from an estate or trust and the termination of an estate or trust;
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
- Paralegal certificate preferred;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a law firm setting;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, HotDocs software program; estate tax and fiduciary accounting programs (OneSource preferred).
