Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our Oncology/Hematology healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, multitasking, communication and interpersonal skills. As a Referral Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the referral process from start to finish, ensuring patients are directed to the appropriate specialists for services efficiently and accurately.
Core Responsibilities:
Primarily responsible for managing the referral process from start to finish, ensuring patients are directed to the appropriate specialists or services efficiently and accurately.
- Verify referral requests, ensure all necessary information is included and process as urgent or routine.
- Obtain pre-authorization for specialist visits if necessary.
- Arrange and coordinate patient appointments with specialists, or other healthcare services, as ordered by Provider.
- Serve as a direct link between patients and the referral office to provide any updates needed.
- Maintain and update patient records, including referral documentation, communications and appointment status, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Address any barriers to care to prevent delays and connect patient to assistance if needed.
- Other duties assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required. An associate degree or health care experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic health records and Microsoft office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare networks, and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, communication and interpersonal skills are essential to manage patient interactions and provider coordination effectively.
This role is under the Front Office Management
Pay: $18.80 - $22.00 per hour
