Position Purpose: The primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate, and perform the activities of the maintenance department to ensure the center is maintained in good repair and all systems are in compliance with applicable safety and fire regulations and federal, state and local building codes to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
Long Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility Preferred
Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- Five years of supervisory experience in a commercial establishment with knowledge of maintenance procedures. Long Term Experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities
- Performs regular, scheduled safety inspections. Performs weekly walk-through inspections of high-risk areas.
- Follows all prescribed Life Safety and Preventative Maintenance tasks in TELS as required by federal, state, local and corporate compliance.
- Prepares a monthly schedule, based on calendar days for performance of preventative maintenance.
- Maintains documentation/logs in accordance with Life Safety, OSHA, fire alarm test reports, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, emergency generators, door alarms, boiler vessel certification, elevator certificate, facility service contracts, medical waste management, survey documentation, safety data sheets, lock out/ag out program.
- Performs all routine maintenance and repair work as required, but not limited to daily rounds through entire center and uses information to assist in work priority.
- Performs maintenance internally and externally in the center.
- Perform roof maintenance including removal of leaves and debris from roof, gutter. Ensure roof drains remain clear, no obstructions.
- Maintenance of groundskeeping or oversee all related work if contracted.
- Staff the department with qualified people
- Assisting in planning, coordinating and conducting education programs and special in-service training sessions relevant to the needs of the department personnel.
- Ensures attendance and participation in scheduled in-services programs by staff.
- Assists in preparing staff for federal, state and local government inspections.
- Coordinates and assists in fire and disaster drills.
- Assist in coordinating and/or chairing the safety committee meetings.
- Provide 24-hour “on call” to the nursing center in the event of an emergency
