Behavioral Support Worker
Marcus Avenue New Hyde Park location
Mon-Fri 8-3:30p Full-time 35 hrs per week
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Working towards a valid New York State Certificate as a Teaching Assistant, Level I within six (6) months of employment
- Fingerprint and SCR clearance required
- Experience working with preschool special education population
- Ability to communicate effectively and work effectively and cooperatively
- Experience working with preschool population preferred.
Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified special education teacher
- Assist the assigned teacher as requested in all areas of the daily classroom routine
- Assist the children as requested by the teacher; maintain health and safety of the classroom environment by performing assigned tasks; prepare classroom materials as requested by teacher
- Assists psychologists, behavioral personnel and educational staff with the implementation of schoolwide positive behavioral support systems
