Validation Engineer

Validation Engineer (Battery Systems) | 6-Month Contract | Novi, MI (Onsite)

We're partnering with an innovative energy technology company that's developing next-generation battery systems for industrial, defense, and grid-scale energy storage applications. They're looking to add a Validation Engineer to support several high-priority product validation efforts as multiple battery systems move through qualification this year.

Project Overview

This engineer will support complete system-level validation for multiple battery programs currently progressing through qualification. Working alongside the validation team, you'll take ownership of designated validation workstreams, coordinating testing with external laboratories, analyzing results, and ensuring projects stay on schedule. This is a highly collaborative role with significant ownership and visibility, supporting battery systems used in grid energy storage and defense applications.

What You'll Do

• Own and drive assigned validation workstreams from planning through final reporting.
• Develop, coordinate, and execute validation plans while managing project timelines and deliverables.
• Partner with third-party testing laboratories to oversee testing, verify procedures, and ensure accurate execution.
• Analyze test data, investigate results, and prepare technical reports with findings and recommendations.
• Support performance, mechanical, vibration, shock, environmental, and qualification testing for high-voltage battery systems.
• Collaborate closely with systems, product, and design engineering teams throughout the validation process.
• Ensure testing aligns with applicable industry standards and customer requirements.
• Help drive multiple validation activities simultaneously while meeting aggressive project timelines.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience supporting validation, verification, testing, or qualification of battery systems or other complex electromechanical products.
• Understanding of battery testing methodologies and the purpose behind various validation tests.
• Experience working with high-voltage systems (approximately 600V or greater preferred).
• Familiarity with performance, vibration, shock, environmental, reliability, or qualification testing.
• Experience analyzing test results and preparing technical documentation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project ownership skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with battery packs, energy storage systems, EV batteries, or other electrified products.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as UN 38.3, SAE, IEC, or similar validation requirements.
• Experience coordinating with third-party testing laboratories or external vendors.
• Exposure to AI productivity tools such as Claude or similar is a plus.

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
