Structure: Contract

Pay: $60–$70/hr (pay dependent on experience)

About the Role

The Senior Project Manager will lead cross-functional initiatives at our client's Mentor, Ohio manufacturing facility, with a focus on automation projects, capital initiatives, and operational integration work. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and operations, working closely with plant leadership to bring structure and execution discipline to an environment where strategic projects compete with day-to-day operational demands.


The right person for this role does not need to be a subject matter expert in manufacturing or automation. What matters is the ability to apply a consistent, repeatable project methodology across different types of work, lead without direct authority, and keep cross-functional teams accountable to timelines and outcomes.


Job Description – Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant leadership, engineering, and operations stakeholders to define project scope, clarify requirements, and build executable project plans.
  • Lead projects across automation, manufacturing improvements, capital initiatives, and operational integration efforts, including equipment transfers, line relocations, and facility planning.
  • Own end-to-end project execution across planning, sequencing, resource coordination, risk tracking, budget awareness, and milestone delivery.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, and third-party vendors to surface dependencies early and keep work moving.
  • Develop clear project structure including scoped deliverables, design inputs, interdependencies, and Gantt-based schedules.
  • Drive follow-through across teams, clarify ownership, and push toward decisions and execution without direct authority over team members.
  • Support acquisition integration activities including process harmonization, operational transitions, equipment moves, and systems alignment.
  • Manage transition from project execution into steady-state operations through documentation, communication, and contingency planning.
  • Provide consistent visibility into project status, risks, scope changes, and resource needs to leadership.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 6 years of project or program management experience in manufacturing, industrial, operational, or similarly complex environments.
  • Experience leading projects from initial planning through execution and operational handoff.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional work and drive results without direct authority over team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and frameworks for scope, schedule, dependency, risk, and status management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage audiences from plant floor to senior leadership.


Preferred:

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, plant improvements, automation, capital projects, or acquisition and integration work.
  • Background working with technical teams across engineering, maintenance, and operations in fast-moving environments.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar planning and reporting platforms.
  • Experience developing project charters, user requirements documentation, or specifications for automation or systems deployments.

  • Comfortable managing and executing through continuously changing priorities while maintaining stakeholder alignment.
  • Assertive and confident leading through influence rather than authority, with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive and incorporate feedback constructively and adapt approach based on stakeholder needs.
