The Lead Tech Product Owner delivers on the organization’s strategic and customer commitments by:
Product & Capability Ownership
- Owning three or more key technology capabilities tied to specific lines of business and customer groups.
- Serving as the product owner for a specialized customer-centric area, partnering with product managers and business leaders to gather Voice of Customer (VOC), identify needed capabilities, and refine the product vision.
- Managing and influencing the product backlog, prioritizing features based on business value, customer needs, technical considerations, and alignment to OKRs.
- Driving the product roadmap, ensuring alignment across portfolios, teams, and multi-portfolio dependencies.
Strategy, Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Ensuring on-time delivery by coordinating manageable features/stories across multiple teams and resolving cross-team dependencies.
- Evaluating technical alternatives and decomposing complex problems into actionable technical propositions.
- Understanding infrastructure, system architecture, integrations, and product flow; communicating credibly with both business and technology partners.
- Applying lean product management practices and frameworks to guide product maturity and continuous improvement.
- Driving cost/benefit insights at the team and product level, and managing budget considerations.
User Experience & Value Creation
- Defining direction for user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) and creating user documentation as needed.
- Creating and communicating the value proposition for proposed features and enhancements.
- Using qualitative and quantitative data to support decisions, assess priorities, and shape the roadmap.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders including Senior Leadership, clearly articulating strategic direction and product decisions.
- Negotiating win-win solutions and diffusing conflict through consensus-building and alignment to product goals.
- Anticipating leadership needs, proactively addressing gaps, and effectively leading meetings with senior stakeholders.
Coaching, Collaboration & Influence
- Coaching product teams and contributing to the development of strong, high-performing teams and products.
- Partnering across product lines, business areas, and technical domains to minimize overlaps and maximize shared outcomes.
- Supporting adjacent product areas and influencing outcomes across complex initiatives.
- Demonstrating a growth mindset, building strong relationships, and advocating for product management best practices.
Job Qualifications
Requirements
- 3 years in product ownership or leadership roles.
- 3 years developing and maintaining product or capability roadmaps.
- 3 years engaging with internal/external customers and managing expectations/feedback.
- 3 years performing cost-benefit analyses or calculating savings.
- 2 years working in agile or scaled agile environments.
- 2 years managing matrixed product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- MBA (completed or in progress).
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or LESS certification.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to represent the Voice of the Customer in architectural and engineering discussions.
- Experience with application development, software integrations, and interpreting technical documentation.
- Experience with relationship NPS surveying, scoring, and analysis.
- Experience leading direct reports or managing enterprise-level programs ($1M ).
- Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and structured communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills, including to large or senior audiences.
- Proven ability to achieve goals in a matrix environment and influence without authority.
- Healthcare industry experience.
- Experience working with state or federal government clients, including bidding and implementation processes.
