Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at Brooksider Sportsbar & Grill in Leawood, KS. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines, ensuring consistent quality and taste. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and stocking stations, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and following food safety and sanitation standards at all times. The Line Cook works closely with the kitchen team to manage ticket times, coordinate orders during peak service, and communicate effectively with servers and other staff. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with washing dishes, prep work, supporting inventory and rotation of stock, and contributing to a positive, teamwork-oriented kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen, with strong skills in grilling, sautéing, frying, and basic food prep.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion controls, and plating standards with attention to detail and consistency.
- Strong time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tickets during busy shifts.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cooks, dishwashers, servers, and management.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and game days as needed.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Prior line cook or restaurant kitchen experience preferred; formal culinary training is a plus but not required.
