Position: Administrative Assistant (Grade I)
Location: Brookside Elementary School
Schedule: 12-Month Position 35 hrs. per week M-F
Salary: Per Contract
To Start: July 1, 2026
The successful candidate will provide a full range of administrative services and have the following qualifications:
●Bilingual, Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese, preferred.
oIf bilingual:
▪Proof of proficiency in the Target language, as aligned to DESE Guidance for the Provision of Interpreters in the Education Setting (p.8), required within the first year of employment.
▪Completion of the 2-hour online Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire
●Experience working as part of a team in a school environment, required.
●Experience with elementary school-aged children is preferred.
●Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible, and spontaneous work environment.
●Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
●Must possess excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office and/or Google Platform experience required.
●Demonstrate excellent knowledge of basic office procedures, operation of common office equipment, the ability to multitask, and a strong time management/task completion record.
●Must possess excellent writing skills.
●Ability to interface with students, parents, coworkers, and the public in a positive, upbeat manner.
●Ability to hold all matters related to duties in the strictest confidence.
Description: Brookside Elementary School is looking for an administrative assistant to serve as a liaison between building administration and all constituencies. The successful candidate will be flexible and able to contend with the unpredictable world that is an elementary school. He/she will have a positive demeanor and the ability to communicate with English- and non-English-speaking community members. The administrative assistant will work to create a welcoming environment for all visitors to the school. He/she will support the building administration as outlined in the duties below. They will be able to perform a range of advanced and confidential administrative support functions.
The following items are completed in English and/or the targeted language, as appropriate:
●Manage student database software
●Provide all components of secretarial support to the administrative staff
●Work collaboratively with other office staff
●Coordinate personnel requisitions and accompanying documentation
●Prepare, transmit, and receive correspondence for the administrative staff
●Receive, screen, and direct phone calls
●Managing student attendance, enrollment, and attendance records
●Printing and distributing reports
●Respond to staff, student, and parent inquiries
●Managing the front door, front desk, and school phone calls
●Coordinating and scheduling meetings and appointments for the administrative staff
●Conducting research and preparing correspondence for administrative staff
●Managing a number of different objectives and projects simultaneously
●Other various tasks as assigned by building administrators.
