Position Summary
The VP of Finance is a senior financial and executive management support role within our high-growth, investor-backed platform that is not yet closed on. This position involves owning and managing key financial processes, providing strategic business analysis, and supporting operational and human resources functions. The VP of Finance will work closely with the CEO, investors, and outside advisors to drive business understanding and strategic decision-making.
The hire is considered a critical hire that will be a key member of the leadership team and a partner to the investor group.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management
- Monthly Financial Statement Preparation: Maintain QuickBooks Online, oversee or perform bookkeeping, ensure GAAP compliance, and enhance management reporting.
- Weekly/Monthly Financial Analysis: Analyze project profitability, growth by segment, project ROI, budgets, and drive insights for the team.
- Business Analysis and Strategic Support: Collaborate with the CEO, CFO and investors to drive business understanding and strategic decision-making.
- M&A Target Analysis: Lead financial, synergy, and valuation analyses for M&A targets in cooperation with sponsors and management.
- Monthly and Quarterly Lender Reporting: Prepare reporting packages, written business updates, covenant calculations, and projections.
- A/R and A/P Processes: Manage the collection and payment processes, develop systems to prevent large A/R balances, and ensure timely A/P payments.
- Technology Support: Evolve and maintain the current tech stack, improve processes and efficiency, and plan and strategize for AI integration.
- Cash Flow Management: Maintain and manage weekly/monthly cash forecasts.
- Investor Relations: Maintain the investor capitalization table and assist investors with quarterly valuations and shareholder letters.
- Tax Support and Audit Support: Manage audits and provide support during tax filing season.
- Treasury Management: Serve as the key point of contact for banks and cash management.
- Payroll Processing: Approve and QA payroll processing.
Operational Support
- In collaboration with the CEO and investors, support projects and strategic decision making across the entire business.
- Office staff management and training, including optimization of organizational chart, accountability systems, and overall performance.
- Drive ROI analyses for marketing and growth investments.
- Improving inventory management systems and processes.
- Maintain and improve existing data sources.
- Assist in warehouse maintenance.
- Data integration for M&A.
Human Resources Support
- Prepare new employee packets (phones, employee packets, fuel cards, truck keys).
- Establish and roll out health insurance plans.
- Maintain PTO records, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain employee ownership plan data.
- Employee onboarding, training, and handbook management.
Qualifications
- 5 years of operating experience in a fast-paced finance or accounting position.
- Relevant degree required.
- CPA, MBA, or CFA designations are a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Intellectually curious, internally motivated, and a great team player.
- Hungry, entrepreneurial problem-solver with competence in finance and/or accounting.
