Join us for the 2026-2027 school year!

 

Brooks Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified instructional tutor to provide reading and math interventions to our struggling students. The successful candidate must:

  • Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations and instruction to meet the needs of children. 

  • Believe that all students can learn

  • Believe in supporting the needs of the whole child
    Knowledgeable of KY Academic Standards in all content areas at all grade levels, K-5

  • Knowledgeable of and able to implement best instructional practices used at Old Mill

  • Able to partner with the instructional coach, certified classroom teachers, a second instructional tutor, and other classified instructional assistants in a collaborative setting to support the learning of struggling students

  • Self-initiating
    Able to instruct and work independently without direct supervision

  • Positive

  • Regular in attendance and punctual

  • Good with details and record keeping

  • Organized

  • Supportive of the total school program

Position Details 

 

Hours: 6 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length: 183 days per year 

  • 170 student instructional days
  • 4 holidays
  • 7 planning days
  • 2 extended days 

Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Must have at least 64 college credits and a 2.5 GPA.
  • Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Compensation & Experience Credit

 

2026-2027 Pay Scale

  • Starting Pay (Step 0): $24.63/hour 
  • Experienced Pay (Step 10): $26.97/hour

We value experience! 

Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.

 

 

New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.

  • The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

 Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

 

Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate <> Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. <> Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
