Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Truck Repair Shop Manager to oversee daily operations within our vehicle maintenance facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and leadership skills to ensure efficient repair processes, maintain high safety standards, and deliver exceptional service. This role requires a proactive approach to managing staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring the shop operates smoothly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of a diesel repair shop, including technician supervision and workload scheduling.
- Provide technical guidance and support on diesel engine diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance programs and track vehicle service history.
- Manage parts inventory, including purchasing, vendor coordination, and cost control.
- Review, approve, and monitor work orders, labor hours, and maintenance documentation.
- Communicate repair needs, timelines, and status updates with drivers, customers, and internal departments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, and related systems (electrical, hydraulic, emissions, driveline).
- Hands-on experience with truck diagnostics, repair procedures, and shop tools.
- Strong background in heavy-duty parts sourcing, inventory management, and warranty/return processes.
- Experience supervising technicians and managing shop productivity.
- Proficiency with maintenance software, work order systems, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to manage budgets, labor hours, and shop operational costs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain repair issues clearly.
Required Certification
Valid driver’s license is required.
Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm.
