What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casting 5 Actors in position at Brooklyn Tavern Theater?
DESCRIPTION
Casting actors for strong singing and harmony-capable roles in an original musical. "Impossible But True" is a fun, rollicking musical set inn 1775, loosely based on Washington Irving's "Rip Van Winkle." The show explores love, the American revolution, and the idea that things are possible.
Please include your resume and a singing reel. (Please have at least one video that demonstrates singing.) We will do the show as a semi-immersive production with a bit of audience engagement. One of our venues will be Fraunces Tavern, where George Washington himself is said to have frequented.
--Rip Van Winkle: (Lead) Baritenor, 25-40, Rip is a well-loved and outspoken dreamer who is not especially skilled at the practical matters of being a farmer. When he volunteers for a military scouting mission in 1775 with his best friend, he is spirited off on a 20-year odyssey while his hometown goes through the revolution.
--Ben/Jonathan Doolittle: (Supporting) Baritone, 18-30, Ben is Rip's young friend who accompanies him on a military mission for the early American army in 1775./Jonathan Doolittle is the incoming town mayor in Act II--45 yrs with tri-cornered Revolutionary hat.
--Hubert Oosterhoudt: (Supporting) Baritenor or Tenor, 25-55 yrs. Part of a comic farmer duo with Brom. Forthright, good-natured, not thin.
--Brom Dutcher: (Supporting) Baritone, 25-55 years, Part of comic farmer duo with Hubert. Thin, looks on the dark side of everything. Superstitious.
--Anna Van Onderdonk: (Supporting) 20-35, soprano with belt, cheerful and flirtatious young town lady. Part of duo with Dame Rachel. Doubles in one short scene as the young Rip Jr. (Rip's grown son).
"Impossible But True" is a musical and includes some fairly complex songs. Please include resume and at least one video demonstrating theatrical singing. After we have received your submission, our next step will be to contact you with a link where you can sign up for an audition. Auditions will be held Thursday, September 3, from 10am-4pm. The actor stipend for this show is $600.
