SCHEDULE AND LOCATIONLocation: This is a part-time position for a mobile business working in Larchmont, New Rochelle,Mamaroneck & ScarsdaleSchedule: Mondays-Fridays after school hours 5 hours flexible prep time/weekPOSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Brooklyn Robot Foundry Lower Westchester seeks part-time teachers who enjoy working with elementary school-aged children to lead robot-building classes in weekday after school programs. Billable hours will include teaching, set-up/breakdown and lesson prep. Training will begin in January with some flexibility and will include on-site shadowing, in person and asynchronous course training. Once trained, teachers will have the option to take on additional hours that align with their availability. Additional shifts will be offered during school holidays, summer vacations and on weekends. Successful candidates will demonstrate an enthusiasm for hands-on, STEAM-focused learning and be creative thinkers, problem solvers and strong verbal communicators. An ability to work with a variety of learners and create a welcoming environment that encourages creativity and confidence is essential.RESPONSIBILITIES● Facilitating robot-building classes using The Brooklyn Robot Foundry designs and curriculum (which we will teach to you)● Self-driving to different locations within lower Westchester to lead programming● Setting up and breaking down class materials within the program space● Ensuring that classes stay on time● Functioning as the onsite point person for teachers, clients and parents● Keeping tools organized and stocked● Familiarizing yourself with weekly project builds● Submitting program evaluations at the end of sessions● Maintaining a strong commitment to The Brooklyn Robot Foundry’s core values; fostering independent thinking and problem solving, encouraging creativity and HAVING FUN.REQUIREMENTS● Positive energy and a sincere love of working with children ages 2-14● Excellent classroom management skills and an ability to be flexible, patient and friendly with all types of learners● Interest or experience in STEAM-focused, hands-on and inquiry-based learning.● Positive and calm under pressure● Excellent interpersonal skills● Love working with your hands (crafting, baking, tinkering, etc).● Extremely reliable● Must be able to lift 35 lbs.● Must be able to pass a CPR/First Aid certification (we will arrange and pay for this class)● A valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle (travel stipend provided) and live a commutable distance to Larchmont, NY and surrounding area● This position requires a background check PLUSES● Experience as a classroom leader or camp counselor● Experience working with circuitsABOUT THE COMPANYThe Brooklyn Robot Foundry was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 2011 and has recently expanded throughout the country.
