About the Role:

Prospect Schools is seeking an organized, flexible, and mission-driven Student Affairs Specialist to join us in support of our growing network of schools. The ideal candidate is fully dedicated to the mission of Prospect Schools and to supporting the success of our students and families. This person will report directly to the Assistant Principal of Student Support and Experience and be responsible for supporting the socio-emotional needs of students in conjunction with supporting the work of maintaining a positive and productive student culture. The core of this person’s role is to partner with educators and families to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of every student. 

School Leadership

  • Track priority academic and culture data in partnership with the Student Affairs Team (e.g. homework completion rates, attendance patterns, etc.); communicate progress to students, teachers and parents

  • Support Student Affairs Manager with a process of educator collaboration to implement a multi-tiered support system (MTSS) to ensure that all student needs are being met - both academically and socio emotionally. 

  • Cultivate a sense of shared ownership for upholding values of an inclusive community through active modeling of school-wide culture practices

  • Work closely with teachers and school culture team members to support efforts in character development, academic habits,  and positive school culture

Student Affairs

  • Respond to behavior incidents and collaborate with teachers, students, and families to close the loop.  

  • Support school-wide and grade-specific events alongside the Student Affairs Managers and maintain a calendar of regular events throughout the year 

  • Maintain a thorough and accurate system of the various required mandates the school is required to meet 

  • Observe lessons regularly and deliver targeted feedback and coaching  to teachers, including feedback on lesson planning methods

  • Assist teachers to devise and monitor high-impact support plans for students

  • Model outstanding instruction and community building strategies for teachers 

Student Culture

  • Model how to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families and support teachers to do the same

  • Own the initial response and follow up to Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior interventions

  • Run after school detention

  • Support in all lunch spaces, at transitions, and with arrival and dismissal

  • Provide consistent presence and coverage around the schools through frequent building and bathroom sweeps

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 5 years professional experience

  • At least 3-5 years of teaching or social worker/counseling experience in a diverse by design environment preferred 

  • Prior experience directly managing, observing, and coaching counselors and/or social workers

  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Adept at collaborating and building community with others
