What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Designer position at Brooklyn Home Goods?
looking for a creative, retail-focused Product Designer / Merchandiser to help develop and grow our Home Storage, and impulse items business.
We are looking for someone who understands the retail market and can take a category from trend and competitive research through product concept, assortment development, packaging, and buyer presentation.
What You'll Do
- Research retail trends, competitors, materials, colors, patterns, and emerging product opportunities
- Develop new products and collections within laundry, home storage, organization, closet, and Impulse categories
- Build coordinated product assortments
- Create product concepts, CADs/renderings, colorways, prints, and material direction
- Identify opportunities to improve existing products through features, construction, materials, and packaging
- Shop the market and analyze major retailers to identify whitespace and new opportunities
- Work with overseas factories to develop products from initial concept through sampling
- Create packaging concepts, sales sheets, line sheets, and buyer presentations
- Help build retailer-specific assortments based on the customer, price point, and competitive landscape
- Work closely with sales and management to turn buyer feedback into commercial products
