What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gardening Enrichment Teacher, BHS ESY Program position at Brookline High School?
POSITION OVERVIEW
Seeking a licensed teacher to plan and provide instruction to students during the Extended School Year (ESY) for a Summer Gardening Enrichment Program with a mission of reconnecting youth to their natural surroundings, utilizing nature for social-emotional well being and to develop a stewardship and sustainability mindset. Students participate in hands-on gardening activities that promote responsibility, teamwork, and environmental awareness. Through planting, maintaining, and harvesting fruits, vegetables, and flowers, students develop practical life skills while learning about plant growth, healthy eating, and sustainability. The program also provides opportunities for outdoor recreation, problem-solving, and community engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Advanced planning of curriculum
- Communicating with parents
- Coordinating services with related service providers
- Writing progress reports at conclusion of program (if applicable)
- Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment
QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:
- Demonstrated understanding of curriculum modifications and differentiation for a wide variety of students
- Mass DESE license
Schedule:
- July 6, 2026 - July 30, 2026
- 50 hours total (includes all planning and prep)
