Brookings Health System is seeking a Coder Specialist to join our team! Compensation range for this position is $21.26 to $31.48, depending on experience. We also have comprehensive medical benefits, dental and vision insurance, flexible reimbursement plans and more! JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the daily coding of accounts assigned. Coders assign appropriate codes using CPT, ICD-10 and HCPC's for all charges according to national and payor guidelines and physician direction, ensuring compliance with coding standards, regulations, and NCCI edits. They work with physicians and management staff to resolve coding and reimbursement issues and patient concerns. Coders coordinate with the billing team on insurance appeals on denied claims due to coding issues. REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in Health Information Technology or certification in coding required Certification: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC‑A, CCS, CCS‑P, CCS‑H, COC Must be certified at hire or within one year of hire Strong problem‑solving skills, self‑motivated, good time management, and organizational skills JOB TYPE: Full time, benefit eligible Day position On-site position located in Brookings, SD Brookings Health System is a non-profit, city-owned health system that serves the health care needs of our local communities.
