What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientific Associate position at Brookhaven National Laboratory?
- Conduct beamline technical development for the Spectroscopy Program
- Provide operational support across program beamlines, such as beamline configuration
- Manage assigned program laboratory spaces and user training
- Scheduling and supervising others as necessary
- Bachelor's degree in a closely related field of basic or applied science
- Proven experience using mechanical design software
- Strong programming skills in Python and C
- Hand-on experience in lab instrumentation
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with scientists, engineers, technical staff, and users
- Master's degree
- Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible related work experience including supporting scientific research programs following established methods and standards for investigation and experimentation.
- Demonstrated successful experience with automation, such as robotics
- Demonstrated successful experience with AI/ML tools, (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Hand-on experience working with large-scale scientific instrumentation (e.g., synchrotron radiation beamlines)
- Experience with EPICS IOC development
