Seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant to support in providing high-quality care in an OB/GYN specialty role. This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to manage clinical and administrative tasks in a fast paced healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and their families, obtaining relevant medical histories and current symptoms.
- Measure and record vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and pulse.
- Assist pediatricians and nursing staff during examinations and minor procedures, including preparing patients and setting up equipment.
- Collect laboratory specimens (e.g., throat, urine cultures, blood via venipuncture).
- Administer immunizations and vaccinations under supervision, complying with NY State regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Perform clerical duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing paperwork.
- Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and organized to ensure efficient clinical workflow.
- Provide a calming, friendly environment, addressing the needs and concerns of both young patients and their guardians.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA) is preferred but not always required.
- Prior experience working in an OB/GYN clinical setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric growth and developmental milestones, vital sign norms, and EKG placement is advantageous.
- Proficiency with EHR software and basic office technology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with children and families.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection techniques confidently.
- Compliance with New York State regulations governing medical assistants’ scope of practice.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
