We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Dietary Cook to join our team. In this vital role, you will assist with meal preparation, food service, and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. Your dedication will help ensure our residents receive nutritious, well-presented meals that meet their dietary needs while fostering a positive dining experience.
Duties
- Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
- Serve meals to residents with excellent customer service, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and cleaning protocols to maintain a safe kitchen environment
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers
- Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning food prep areas, and managing food handling tasks
- Follow safe lifting practices during heavy lifting tasks and manual handling activities
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and dietary team to accommodate special diets and individual needs
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation, serving techniques, and sanitation standards (e.g., JCAHO compliance)
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work with geriatric patients and adhere to dietary requirements for health conditions
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and practicing workplace safety protocols
- Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management
- Excellent customer service skills with a caring attitude towards residents
