Job Description:
The School Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that the school environment remains clean, safe, and conducive to learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. This position requires someone who can work independently as well as collaborate effectively with others to accomplish daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and other school areas as needed.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and clean surfaces, windows, and walls.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in a proper and safe manner.
- Replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and entryways.
- Set up and break down for special events, meetings, and school functions as needed.
- Follow cleaning schedules and ensure that all areas are cleaned in a timely manner.
- Report any issues such as maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic with a focus on attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- A team player who is willing to work collaboratively with others.
- Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude toward work.
- Physically capable of performing custodial duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
- Must pass a background check and meet any other required school safety protocols.
