The Brookfield Elementary School Preschool classroom serves three and four year old students Monday - Thursday. Our preschool classroom supports learning through a caring and nurturing environment where they can explore and learn through a variety of play experiences. Student learning opportunities are developmentally appropriate and address all areas of development including social emotional, physical and cognitive development. The OSSD preschool program believes the education of young children is a collaboration involving teachers, specialists, families, and communities.
Join the Orange Southwest School District Preschool Team at Brookfield Elementary in a support staff role. The support staff position assists and supports preschool students, as directed by classroom teachers and special educators, across many settings, working with students individually and/or in small groups. Responsibilities include supporting students and collaborating with teachers within the classroom by performing a variety of supportive activities within a diverse population of students.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Support the early childhood educator in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Engage children in play based learning activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Prepare snacks and prepare rooms or furniture for meals and activities
- Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Assist in housekeeping and duties
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
