REPORTS TO: Support Group Director
Brooke’s Place is a nonprofit organization working to create a community where children, teens, young adults and their families living with grief feel supported and understood. Brooke’s Place provides support groups, therapy services and community education to empower children, teens, young adults and their families to thrive in the midst of grief.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
● Masters Degree in a behavioral health or human service field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology).
● Licensed or license-eligible by the Health Professions Bureau for State licensure, or certification in Child Life Specialist or related field is preferred.
● Bereavement support experience, an understanding of childhood & adolescent development, and knowledge of play therapy are preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Support Group Coordinator position will be responsible for family care on designated Brooke’s Place ongoing support group program nights. The Support Group Coordinator will work with the Support Group Director and others on staff to ensure the highest quality level of care is provided to our support group families through the excellent support of trained volunteers.
Program Duties
● Assist in coordinating the planning, management and direct oversight for the on-going grief support group families: two evenings per week
● Assist in coordinating the planning, management & implementation of the intake, enrollment, waitlist and closing process for support group families
● Assist in managing the Ongoing support group program waitlist and resources for waitlist families
● Provide phone support for prospective and current families, community consultations and referrals
● Ensure all program policies are adhered to by families and volunteers
● Procure program supplies and track program expenses
● Track program statistics and outcomes related to families
● Assist in coordinating the Ongoing support group program therapeutic activities (“Tip Times”) and resources
● Maintain community partnerships in relation to the support group program
● Coordinate and attend special events for families
● Supervise Ongoing support group program interns as needed Volunteer Recruitment & Retention
● Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with planning and implementing volunteer appreciation efforts
● Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in completing volunteer interviews as needed Training & Facilitation Duties
● Complete the Brooke’s Place Facilitator Training Workshop
● Provide facilitation within Brooke’s Place grief support programs as needed
● Assist in coordinating, planning and teaching Brooke’s Place Facilitator Training workshops as needed
GENERAL DUTIES:
● Uphold and implement the agency’s vision, mission, principles and values
● Actively participate in staff, program meetings, professional development, and special events as scheduled
● Provide presentations to interested organizations about the bereavement services offered by Brooke’s Place
● Participate in the budget process, representing needs and goals of program coordination areas
● Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct and boundaries with all Brooke’s Place constituents, including staff, families, volunteers, donors and interns
● Other duties as assigned

HOURS:
● TWO Evenings per week - Direct Program Service (1:00-9:00pm)
● THREE Days per week - Office Hours (8:30am-4:30pm)
● Additional evening or Saturday on occasion as needed to staff Brooke’s Place facilitator training workshops or other family or volunteer events.
