What is the Alumni Success Coach role?

The Alumni Success Coach supports Brooke graduates in persisting through college and other postsecondary pathways, ensuring they have the academic, financial, and social support necessary to complete a degree or credential of value. This role combines one-on-one coaching, in-person campus support, financial aid expertise, data-driven advising, and community-building strategies to help alumni navigate challenges, strengthen belonging, and thrive beyond high school.

As a Alumni Success Coach at Brooke High School, you will be responsible for:

Alumni Advising & Support

  • Own persistence and completion outcomes for an assigned caseload of Brooke alumni, providing proactive, individualized support to keep students on track.
  • Provide in-person advising at assigned college campuses, meeting alumni where they are and connecting them to institutional support and resources.
  • Maintain regular coaching touchpoints (in-person, phone, or virtual) and respond promptly to emerging needs, ensuring proactive interventions before challenges escalate.
  • Support alumni in the transition from high school to college, including summer melt prevention, enrollment verification, and preparation for the first semester.
  • Provide financial aid advising (FAFSA, CSS Profile, verification, appeals, scholarships) to help alumni eliminate financial barriers.
  • Offer academic advising that promotes on-time credit accumulation, major exploration, and effective use of campus resources.
  • Advance advising supports for alumni in STEM majors, addressing unique challenges in coursework and persistence.
  • Support alumni pursuing non-college postsecondary pathways (e.g., workforce training, certifications), ensuring they access viable options for long-term success.

Community Building & Belonging

  • Engage alumni in programming that builds belonging, confidence, and persistence.
  • Design and facilitate peer advising opportunities that connect alumni with one another for encouragement and accountability.
  • Engage families as partners in the persistence process, particularly around financial aid renewal, budgeting, and navigating institutional systems.

Data & Progress Monitoring

  • Use Salesforce and other data systems to track alumni outcomes (credit accumulation, GPA, enrollment, retention, completion), ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Identify trends and barriers in alumni success, surfacing insights to the Director and Alumni Success Team and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accountability to departmental benchmarks, including persistence rates, degree progress, and financial aid standing.

Partnerships & Events

  • Build and sustain relationships with staff at assigned campuses, advocating for alumni, collaborating on persistence strategies, and addressing barriers to success.
  • Develop partnerships with scholarship providers and community organizations to expand alumni access to financial, academic, and career resources.
  • Plan and facilitate alumni programming, including summer melt supports, financial aid workshops, career panels, and networking events.
  • Connect alumni to career readiness opportunities, including internships, job shadowing, and networking resources that strengthen pathways to meaningful employment.
  • Collaborate with the College Counseling team to ensure a smooth transition from high school to postsecondary coaching.
  • Support the College Counseling team with events, pre-college program opportunities, and the college application process when needed, reinforcing shared goals across counseling and alumni success.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to program development by sharing trends, strategies, and feedback that strengthen the Alumni Success program and improve persistence outcomes.
  • Stay informed on research and best practices in postsecondary success, bringing innovative approaches to the team.
