What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hourly - Coordinator, Career Center position at Brookdale Community College?
Overview
The Coordinator will support students in Perkins-funded AAS and AS programs by building strong employer partnerships and expanding internship and job opportunities. They will provide one-on-one career support to students, including resume reviews and job search assistance, and deliver targeted workshops both in-class and through employer events. Working closely with faculty, the Coordinator will develop programming tailored specific to Perkins programs and ensure students are informed and prepared for available opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Seek out, develop, and maintain relationships with employers that provide internships and job opportunities for students in Perkins programs.
- Assist students with job search strategies and career preparation skills, such as resume writing and interviewing skills.
- Assist with the maintenance of Handshake/career database.
- Proactively search for job openings with local employers and promote open positions.
- Provide in-class workshops and assist in developing additional workshops/employer information sessions related to Perkins Programs.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in career services or related field
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organization and interpersonal networking skills with experience in building business and community relationships.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong grammar and writing abilities.
- Must be computer literate with ability to utilize Microsoft Office at an intermediate level and the ability to learn and utilize specific higher education programs and systems.
- Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.
- Ability to travel within the county and state.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations:
- Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
- Occasional evening and weekend work and local travel maybe required.
