Bronx River Art Center (BRAC) is seeking part-time, seasonal Teaching Artists to join our 2026 Arts Education Programs. This open call invites experienced and emerging artists, educators, and creative facilitators who are passionate about arts education, community engagement, and working with youth, adults, and seniors.


Teaching artists at BRAC lead single workshops, multi-week classes, afterschool programs, and community-based/offsite programming, serving participants ages 7 through senior adults. Programs take place both at BRAC and in partnership with local public schools and community organizations throughout the Bronx.


Founded in 1987, BRAC is a culturally diverse, multi-arts nonprofit dedicated to transforming creativity into vision. Our programs emphasize artistic growth, environmental stewardship, leadership, and cultural relevance—centering the Bronx River and the communities that surround it.


Program Areas Include:
  • Youth and adult art classes (ceramics, painting, mixed media, and more)
  • Afterschool programs for middle and high school students
  • STEAM-focused arts and environmental education
  • Teen Project Studio (TPS) and MSCreate programs
  • Open call for new class and workshop proposals (printmaking, textiles, photography, digital art, graffiti, etc.)


Compensation & Benefits:
  • Ceramics/Pottery: $65/hour
  • All other classes: $55/hour
  • Single workshops: $150
  • Admin, meetings, and outreach: $20/hour
  • Paid setup and cleanup time for regular classes
  • Eligibility for free and discounted classes, professional development, training, and access to BRAC’s computer lab

  • Ideal Candidates:
    • Have an art degree or equivalent professional experience
    • Have experience teaching in community or educational settings
    • Are committed to inclusive, accessible arts education
    • Enjoy working with diverse age groups and learning styles
    • Are energetic, professional, patient, and prepared
    • Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus

  • Artists from underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Priority is given to Bronx-based and local artists.
