We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Information Technology. Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) was founded in 1996 to ensure that the socio-economically depressed and medically underserved residents of the Bronx have access to high-quality and comprehensive healthcare services, Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) is a not-for-profit, community-based organization and Federally Qualified Health Center. The organization provides a wide range of comprehensive, coordinated primary medical, oral, and mental health care and related diagnostic, pharmacy, social support, and enabling services for medically underserved/uninsured residents.
BCHN’s mission is to improve the health of people and families in the Bronx; provide access to affordable, quality health care, especially for uninsured people; promote disease prevention, early treatment and healthful lifestyles; and obtain financial and other resources for programs and services. BCHN’s service area includes the entire borough of the Bronx, including all 25 zip codes. Within this area, Health Center sites focus on the low-income and underserved populations.
About the Role: The Director of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for developing and implementing an Information Technology strategy that will support and leverage the operational aspects of BCHN. Areas of oversight include server and cloud infrastructure, network and server operations, desktop support, clinical application support, and cybersecurity. This role ensures that technology not only supports operational excellence but also advances care delivery, compliance, and innovation in alignment with BCHN’s mission. The Director of IT will provide leadership and develop a reliable, accountable and effective technology team.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning, development, and evaluation of the information and technology needs and systems of the organization.
- Lead the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, endpoints, backup systems, and cloud environments.
- Ensure enterprise systems are secure, scalable, and reliably support internal operations and delivery of care, market trends, to develop a roadmap to collaborative scalable organization.
- Ensure focus on continuous improvement of various security platforms, based on latest market trends, to develop a roadmap for a collaborative scalable organization.
- Reviews and evaluates organizational effectiveness, goal determination, and strategic planning, etc. and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Facilitate communication between staff, management, customers, and other technology resources within BCHN to ensure an effective approach to planning, budgeting and implementing technology solutions.
- Establishes IT policies, standards and procedures for BCHN that support efficient operations and effective business operations. Determines the resources needed to implement IT applications.
- Leads the execution of technology strategy for network infrastructure, technology platforms, enterprise and desktop applications, hardware and security. Provides leadership and is accountable for building and supporting reliable systems.
- Ensures the security of privacy and regulatory compliance of all systems, including mobile and portable technology. Safeguards a 24/7/365 accessible and effective set of core systems.
- Audits and reviews systems and practices ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and standards.
- Evaluates vendors on new and existing products, cost of products and makes recommendations.
- Discusses requirements with end users and provides recommendations to users to help them understand capabilities, potential limitations and challenges.
- Supervises subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluation.
- Lead the evaluation, implementation, and governance of emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI)—to enhance operational efficiency; develop training and guidance for staff on responsible AI use to support task automation, workflow optimization, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Experience and Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in business and technology Management, Computer Science or a closely related field is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience including hands-on infrastructure management, software development, and systems administration.
- At least 5 years in a leadership/Director role managing enterprise IT operations and EHR systems
- Non-profit industry experience preferred, with experience managing technology in a health care facility.

Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience with IT infrastructure in building and managing a complex, sophisticated and fully functional IT infrastructure and web infrastructure from the ground up.
- Experience should also include exposure to both shared and outsourced solutions, as well as support of in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site, multi-business environment.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with software licensing agreements and technology products and services with a well-defined return on investment.
- Exceptional skills in Project and Time Management, System Analysis, System Development, Architecture and foundational technologies such as networking, communications, system platforms, etc.
Salary Range: The base salary range for this position $120,000 – 150,000 annually.
The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
This role is hybrid, requiring three (3) days per week in the office. The remaining two (2) days may be worked remotely. Specific in-office days will be discussed during the interview process, with flexibility to align with team needs. Please note that the number of required in-office days may be adjusted over time, potentially increasing the number of required in-office days based on business needs.
