Role Overview
The Director of Facility Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all facility management functions at BMH, including the Central Utility Plant. This role supports the SVP and COO to ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, sustainability initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead Facilities Operations and Central Utility Plant teams.
- Develop and execute operational plans aligned with system goals and sustainability priorities.
- Improve workflows, communication, and reporting structures.
- Track and report KPIs across operational, financial, and compliance areas.
- Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, OSHA, and state/local regulations.
Facilities Management
- Build and manage a high‑performing facilities team.
- Oversee MEP systems and campus infrastructure.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs and service standards.
- Manage energy use, utilities, and vendor performance.
- Lead readiness for environmental, safety, and regulatory inspections.
Air & Water Quality
- Oversee air and water quality initiatives and documentation.
- Communicate updates to senior clinical leadership.
- Support continuous monitoring and improvement efforts.
Sustainability & GHG Reduction
- Lead measurement and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Analyze performance in energy use, anesthetic gases, waste, and fleet fuel.
- Set goals, develop action plans, and conduct annual sustainability reviews.
Financial & Resource Management
- Manage departmental budgets and cost‑control strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce vendor spend and strengthen internal capabilities.
- Support capital planning and long‑term facility strategy.
Relationship Management
- Serve as liaison between Facilities Operations and internal/external partners.
- Maintain strong communication with clinical leadership, contractors, and vendors.
- Promote collaborative, solutions‑focused project delivery.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of leadership experience in hospital facility operations (required).
- Experience with MEP systems and Central Utility Plant operations.
- Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of hospital infrastructure and regulatory standards.
