Role Overv
iewThe Clinical Documentation Coordinator, also known as the CDI Second Level Reviewer, is a professional CDI with strong clinical knowledge and an advanced understanding of DRG documentation requirements. Working under the supervision of the CDI Manager, this role performs secondary clinical chart reviews, resolves DRG discrepancies and provides education to clinical staff on documentation accuracy, diagnosis clarification and improved capture of comorbid conditio
ns.The reviewer conducts concurrent and retrospective medical record reviews for defined patient populations to identify opportunities to improve documentation accuracy. This role collaborates closely with the Coding Department to ensure documentation is clinically appropriate, reflects severity of illness and aligns with current CMS standar
