What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production and Harvest Manager position at Brogue Hydroponics?
Our hydroponic farm has been proudly growing high-quality, locally produced food since the early 1980s, with a strong commitment to high quality produce, consistency, and community relationships. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a dedicated Production Manager to lead our harvesting operations, manage our crew, and ensure our produce is handled and tracked with care from our farm and local farmers to customer. This role is hands-on and essential to maintaining the standards our customers rely on every day.
Production & Harvest Management
- Oversee daily harvesting operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency
- Plan and coordinate harvest schedules based on crop readiness and sales needs
- Ensure proper handling, packing, and storage of produce to maintain freshness and quality
- Monitor crop output and communicate availability to sales and distribution teams
Crew Leadership & Workflow
- Supervise and work alongside the harvest and packing crew
- Train team members on proper harvesting, handling, and food safety procedures
- Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Foster a positive, productive team environment with clear communication
Inventory & Quality Control
- Track and manage inventory levels of all harvested products
- Maintain accurate records of yields, packed orders, and available stock
- Ensure inventory is rotated properly and meets quality standards
- Coordinate with sales and delivery teams to fulfill orders accurately
Operations & Physical Work
- Actively participate in harvesting, packing, and staging produce orders
- Work in walk-in coolers and outdoor conditions
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods
- Assist with farmers markets or deliveries as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- High attention to detail, especially with inventory and product quality
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working with basic tracking systems or spreadsheets
- Passion for agriculture and high-quality, local food
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience managing farm crews or production teams
- Familiarity with inventory systems or farm production tracking
- Background in produce handling or food production
Pay: $20.00 - $23.50 per hour
