Job Opening: Program Officer
The Broetje Family Trust stewards a family legacy of "bearing fruit that will last" through servant leadership, community building, and philanthropy. Vista Hermosa Foundation oversees the philanthropic arm of this work, which invests in the growth of flourishing communities. Informed by teachings of servant leadership, healing centered engagement and empowered worldview, we take a holistic approach to understanding and reconciling people's connections to God, self, others, and creation (shalom). We accompany very marginalized groups of people to discover who they are, find their voice, and be the solutions to their own wellbeing and development. We currently fund partners in Mexico, Haiti, India and East Africa as well as the US.
We seek a Program Officer to help manage a portfolio of international grants. This full-time position is located in Pasco, WA and reports to the Managing Director. The individual who fills this role will be committed to the foundation's mission, be a strong team player, detail-oriented, flexible, seek opportunities to grow and learn, and be willing to take on new projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor grants, including written proposal summaries and progress on existing partnerships.
- Maintain frequent communications with program partners
- Create opportunities for cross-learning and collaboration within the portfolio
- Identify and develop relationships with potential new grant partners
- Analyze and troubleshoot program challenges
- Conduct program reviews and prepare reports for Foundation leadership and Board of Directors, capturing stories of impact and lessons learned
- Develop best practices to improve overall program performance
- Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for programs
- Represent Vista Hermosa Foundation in relevant conferences, meetings and workshops
Qualifications
- 5 years of professional experience in international community development, philanthropy, or other relevant field; experience in international agricultural development a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Experience working across cultures
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Strong relationship building skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to be a self-starter
- Experience working across cultures and/or working internationally is a plus
- Ability to travel internationally approximately 2-3 times per year (once safe to do so)
Salary and benefits
The salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000. Benefits include paid time off and sick leave, medical insurance, and 401k plan (after 90 days of employment).
