POSITION SUMMARY
The Division Engineer provides functional oversight of projects executed by contractors and employees to ensure compliance to Track Standards, safety, contract obligations and timelines to achieve company objectives at all OmniTRAX railroads. Oversees capital infrastructure projects for Track and Signals & Communications; manages projects to ensure Maintenance of Way compliance, and contract obligations; ensures timely project completion following state, local and FRA regulations, and to scope of work on budget.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Railroad asset management oversight including equipment and infrastructure
- Develop, implement and train on railroad standards for Track and Maintenance of Way for OmniTRAX managed railroad properties including, property development
- Lead Capital infrastructure project management and oversight including: project safety, contract preparation, budget preparation, electronic inspection and data interpretation, and through site visit
- Lead the effort to protect employees, customers and the environment during the Engineering Department’s work; ensure diligent application of all safety rules, policies and procedures designed to protect employees, customers and the environment
- In cooperation with the procurement department, prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts for services, equipment leases, materials and supplies related to projects and maintenance of railroad’s systems and infrastructure
- Prepare reports and presentations on project progression and infrastructure improvements
- Assess project and identify continuous process improvement for greater efficiencies and cost reduction while adhering to all safety protocols
OTHER DUTIES
- Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
- Wear required protective equipment (PPE) such as: hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.
- Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime and various shift work
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must have a valid passport and be able to travel to Canada
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and related work experience
- 10 years railroad experience; 5 years engineering project experience
- Strong project management skills
- Business and financial acumen
- Leadership and mentoring skills to develop high performance team
- Thorough working knowledge of FRA regulations governing track, signals & communication and other areas of capital improvement efforts
- Read, analyze and comprehend general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Prepare written reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups of managers, clients, customers and general public
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; strong decision making skills
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form; deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Effectively communicate with all level of employees and business associates in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Valid Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil & Gas industries
- Bachelor’s Degree
