Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently within designated routes. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving practices, including the operation of various types of vehicles such as tankers, refrigerated trailers, and dump trucks. The Local Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles, including tankers and refrigerated trailers, to transport freight to designated locations.
- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, ensuring proper handling of goods.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including route details and cargo information.
- Navigate assigned routes effectively while adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding any issues or delays encountered during transport.
- Utilize forklifts as needed for loading and unloading operations.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle to uphold company standards.
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Familiarity with operating various types of vehicles including dump trucks and refrigerated trailers is preferred.
- Experience in route driving, freight handling, and load/unload procedures is essential.
- Previous experience operating forklifts is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
