SUBJECT:Instructional Coach – Science - Brockton High School
This position is dependent upon funding.
Qualifications:
•Currently employed by Brockton Public Schools
•Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a teacher
•A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the high school level
•Thorough knowledge of the Massachusetts Science Frameworks as well as knowledge of research based instructional practices for Science instruction
•Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, team building, and organization
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Assist the Coordinator of Science, 9-12 and BHS leadership by ensuring all aspects of high quality instructional materials for Science are piloted, adopted, and implemented.
2.Ensure school and district initiatives are implemented and supported in the building.
3.Teach one class each day that supports school and district initiatives.
4.Work with all BHS Science teachers, including Science co-teachers, to improve Science achievement.
5.Model lessons, observe instruction, and provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers about Science instruction utilizing the identified high quality instructional materials and department-created curriculum units to meet students’ needs.
6.Differentiate teacher support and provide instructional mentoring.
7.Support teachers in analyzing data to strengthen instructional decisions; collaboratively plan high quality and rigorous lessons and examine student work to calibrate performance and improve achievement.
8.Conduct professional development aligned with school and district initiatives.
9.Collaborate with the Coordinator of Science, 9-12 and other BHS leaders in shaping and strengthening the Science Department.
10.Assist in building collaborative teams within the Science Department for the purpose planning and data analysis
11.Serve as a key member of the of the district-wide Science Curriculum Committee.
12.Create, manage, access, support and monitor the piloting, adopting, and implementing the identified high quality instructional materials and department-created curriculum units (incl. model lessons and curriculum mappings/pacing guides).
13.Support school-wide assessment implementation.
14.Share research-based best-practices for Sceince learning and instruction.
15.Promote equitable instructional practices.
16.Gather, analyze, and interpret data to inform instruction (STAR, ACCESS, MATHia, common assessments, MCAS, etc.).
Compensation: Teachers’ salary Schedule Plus up to five days beyond the teacher work year, to be compensated at the individual's per diem rate of pay. Plus $2,000
