Service Technician - Rustom Nissan of Portland

Summary
Nissan of Portland is currently seeking candidates for an experienced automotive service technician position for our Service Department. This position will be responsible for performing vehicle repairs and maintenance as directed by the Service Manager & Assistant Service Managers.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Perform vehicle repairs as indicated by Service Manager & Assistant Service Managers on repair orders by following dealer and factory standards

• Identify and provide preventative vehicle maintenance recommendations as needed

• Working with the Parts Counter personnel to ensure the correct parts are ordered for repair orders

• Adhere to factory/technical bulletins and attend appropriate training when assigned

• Maintain safe and clean work areas

• Understand and comply with federal and state regulations (safety, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA policies, etc.)

• Provide safe and reliable vehicles upon completion of repair

• Support all other Service functions

Education, Experience and Qualifications

High School Diploma, G.E.D. equivalent, and/or ASE/Nissan certification preferred. Candidates should have an expert mechanical understanding of automobiles and the hand tools used to perform vehicle maintenance and repair responsibilities. Candidates should also be able to work independently and in a team environment, have the ability to multi-task, stay focused, and have strong organizational and communication skills. This position does require the ability to read, comprehend instruction, as well as able to use computers and email; especially our Dealer Management System, ADP Drive. Candidates must also have a valid driver license with no more than two moving violations or at-fault accidents within the last three years and no major violations within the last seven years. Additionally, candidates will also be required to pass a pre-employment background check. Candidates who possess additional certifications and/or experience will be given preferential consideration.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Auto dealership service shop setting with vehicle lifts (hoists) in each service bay; where noise level can be fairly loud due to large vehicles and operation of tools and interruptions can be frequent. Lifting between 10-125 pounds. Pushing, bending and twisting under vehicles with added pressure and/or weight (ie. pushing an engine on a rolling standing weighing 250-700lbs).
