Veterinarian Technician

We are looking for a veterinary technician. We can train people who have no prior experience but of course they will start at the kennel assistant position. We are looking for someone with people skills. People who has had restaurant or retail experience have been our best candidates in the past.Our 1 doctor hospital has recently relocated to a new building by the ocean. The best is less than two minutes by foot. We submit all our x-rays to radiology, so we get to learn from the interpretation every time. We heavily rely on our ultrasound machine (her name is Uzy :D ) and we are looking for someone who can learn to do at least basic scans.The skills that we need and that we will teach are the following- Veterinary terminology and knowledge of animal physiology related to the job- Knowledge of aseptic techniques. General awareness of what is sterile and what is not.- Assist in X-rays: This is your safety as an operator and obtaining diagnostic quality images. - Restraining animals, especially dogs, with clients in the room is a must. Not restraining does not work neither does allowing the owner to restrain the pet themselves.- Maintain kennel areas and ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.Experience- Prior experience in the veterinary field is desirable, however, prior customer service experience is what we need most.- Knowledge of medications used in veterinary medicine is a must. It is not a problem if you do not know something that you are willing to learn. The goal is to have everyone in our hospital know what is a controlled drug and what is not, what is an NSAID, what is a steroid, what is methimazole and so on.
