Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining a wide variety of industrial manufacturing and facility equipment to ensure maximum equipment reliability and production efficiency. This position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production systems.

The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting experience, and the ability to diagnose equipment failures using technical documentation, electrical schematics, PLC diagnostics, and precision testing equipment. This role works collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, packaging machinery, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, and PLC diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, starters, relays, contactors, sensors, switches, transformers, and control panels.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), identifying faults, interpreting alarms, and coordinating programming support when required.
  • Install, replace, and repair electrical components, wiring, motors, bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, valves, cylinders, pumps, and other machine components.
  • Perform machine setup, alignment, calibration, and adjustments to maintain optimal operating performance.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, vibration, overheating, leaks, and abnormal operating conditions to identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, ohmmeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and metal repairs as necessary to restore equipment functionality.
  • Disassemble and rebuild machinery, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Lubricate machinery and replace consumable components in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime while identifying root causes and implementing long-term corrective actions.
  • Document repairs, inspections, parts usage, and completed preventive maintenance within the company's maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Recommend equipment improvements and process modifications to improve reliability, safety, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety standards, and company safety procedures.
  • Participate in emergency maintenance, overtime, weekend coverage, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Assist with installation, startup, relocation, and commissioning of new production equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills involving conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and machine troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems using multimeters, ohmmeters, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and the ability to troubleshoot inputs, outputs, sensors, and control devices.
  • Experience troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control circuits.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments involving standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and confined spaces.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as business needs require.

Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
