Position Overview

The Community Development Officer (CDO) supports Broadway Bank’s CRA program by developing community partnerships, identifying CRA-qualified lending, investment, donation, volunteer, and service opportunities, and promoting financial education and small business development within the Bank’s assessment areas. This role works closely with the CRA Manager, lending teams, business lines, Care Corps, and community stakeholders to strengthen CRA performance, support low- and moderate-income (LMI) individuals and communities, and ensures activities are properly documented for reporting and exam readiness.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, support, and help originate CRA-eligible small business and community development loan opportunities in partnership with lending teams and the CRA Manager.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, community development agencies, small business partners, affordable housing entities, and other community stakeholders.
  • Promote Broadway Bank’s CRA-related products, services, financial education, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships through meetings, presentations, and community events.
  • Facilitate financial literacy, small business, and entrepreneurial education sessions for eligible community groups and organizations.
  • Source, coordinate, and support CRA-qualified service activities, donations, sponsorships, investments, Care Corps initiatives, and other community development opportunities.
  • Serve as a CRA liaison for Care Corps by supporting volunteer opportunities, encouraging employee participation, and helping ensure eligible volunteer activities are tracked and documented appropriately.
  • Document and submit CRA-qualifying activity information and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and exam readiness.
  • Partner with internal business lines to identify CRA opportunities, support CRA goals, and strengthen community impact across the Bank’s assessment areas.
  • Ensure ongoing engagement with community functions, representing Broadway Bank effectively during work hours, after hours, and occasionally on weekends.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • This position may require travel within the Bank’s geographic area.

Experience & Education

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in small business lending, community development/CRA, or other compliance-related business fields.
  • Completion of a college degree is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CRA regulations and a strong understanding of community development principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to support small businesses, LMI communities, volunteerism, and community development efforts.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal teams, Care Corps, and community partners.
  • Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings and independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to attend community functions outside regular business hours; valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record is preferred.

Other Requirements

  • This role requires a significant degree of flexibility and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • The CDO must be able to travel within the community to meet with partners, stakeholders, and to participate in or lead community events.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.
