Role Description The Librarian is a full-time, on-site role located at Broadview Public Library District in Broadview, IL. The Librarian will provide reference and readers’ advisory services, assist patrons with locating and using print and digital resources, and support technology use, including public computers, online databases, and other library systems. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining collections, cataloging and organizing materials, and participating in the selection and weeding of items to ensure resources remain current and relevant. The Librarian will plan and lead programs and workshops for diverse age groups, collaborate with colleagues on outreach initiatives, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive environment. Additional duties include maintaining accurate records, following library policies and procedures, and supporting daily operations such as circulation, patron registration, and space management.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide excellent customer service, including strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in information and research skills, including use of online databases, library catalogs, and digital resources.
- Capability to support technology, such as public computers, e-resources, basic troubleshooting, and guidance for patrons.
- Experience with collection development practices, including selection, cataloging basics, and ongoing evaluation of materials.
