What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Tech I position at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard?

the life sciences.
This role is responsible for cage wash processing logistics and inventory in
a state-of-the-art facility. Completes facility duties according to standard
operating procedures while ensuring a consistent sanitization program.

Operates mechanical cage wash units, bulk steam
sterilizers, decontamination equipment
and material-transfer vacuum systems according to standard operating procedures
and
manufacturer instructions.

Develops and implements standard operating
procedures to provide a safe environment
and quality supplies.

Documents, organizes and maintains preventative
maintenance records and manufacturer
specification materials.

Processes all animal cage components &
related equipment through mechanical cage,
bottle, rack or tunnel washers.

Responsible for maintaining adequate levels of
sanitization chemicals.
·
Oversight of bulk bedding silos.
·
Maintains fixed equipment filters, air-handler
and cage-top filters.
·
Performs quality assurance monitoring and
record-keeping ensuring proper sanitation.

Must have an in-depth understanding of equipment
maintenance, washing equipment
operation and safety components, cleaning and sterilization cycles.

Ensures compliance with required regulations and
consistently follows program and
institutional procedures and policies.

Must be able to troubleshoot and report
mechanical failures immediately to management.

Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED and at least 2 years employed in a vivarium
operations position. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with
facilities and research staff as well as vendors. Weekend and holiday work may
be required. AALAS certification preferred. Must work well independently and as
a cross-functional team-member. This position qualifies as an essential
employee. Employment is conditional upon the satisfactory completion of an
occupational health assessment for working with laboratory animals. Must have
the ability to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 300lbs.

Pay Range: 19.23 - 24.36 per hour
The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
