As a Business Development Representative, you’ll be on the front lines, inspiring the next generation of welders, promoting our industry-leading curriculum, and expanding our footprint across high schools, career centers, and veteran communities. This is more than a sales role—it’s about impact. You’ll serve as a trusted partner to instructors, counselors, and students, helping them understand the opportunities a career in welding can bring—and how HIWT can get them there.
Your Responsibilities
As a Business Development Representative, you will:
- Own your territory: Plan and execute travel, sales activities, and school visits across your assigned region (50–75% travel required).
- Drive recruitment: Deliver engaging presentations to students and veterans, promoting HIWT’s post-secondary welding programs.
- Sell solutions: Promote and quote curriculum, instructor training, and welding qualification products.
- Build lasting relationships: Cultivate strong connections with instructors, counselors, veteran centers, and workforce organizations.
- Represent HIWT: Attend career fairs, trade shows, and community events as an enthusiastic ambassador of the Institute.
- Stay compliant: Ensure all communications align with state and accreditation standards.
- Stay organized: Maintain travel schedules, update CRM systems, and complete reporting with precision and timeliness.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred)
- 7 years of sales experience (required)
- Sales experience in skilled trades or education preferred)
- Previous experience in welding or skilled trades (preferred)
- Outgoing, persuasive communicator with strong presentation skills
- Organized and self-sufficient—can manage a territory with minimal oversight
- Technologically savvy (Microsoft Office, CRM tools, quoting systems)
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to learn basic welding knowledge and terminology
