What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool & Spa Technician position at Briva Pool & Spa?
Experienced Pool & Spa Service Technician
Internal classification: Master Technician I (MT1)
Boise / Treasure Valley, Idaho | Full-Time | Year-Round
$40,000 Base Salary 10% Profit Share on Jobs
YOU’RE PAST ENTRY-LEVEL. YOU KNOW HOW A POOL IS SUPPOSED TO WORK.
You can open and close a pool without someone standing beside you. You understand pumps, filters, circulation, water chemistry, and the common problems that show up in the field. When something is off, your instinct is to figure out why—not just report it and drive away.
Briva Pool & Spa is looking for an experienced Pool & Spa Service Technician who can own everyday service work, solve common repair issues, communicate well with customers, and take pride in leaving the job done right.
This is not a seasonal cleaning-route job. It is a year-round skilled field-service role with a growing Treasure Valley pool and spa company.
WHY A STRONG TECHNICIAN WOULD WANT THIS ROLE
- You are treated like a skilled service professional, not just labor.
- You get a dependable base salary plus a direct share of profitable job work.
- You have room to work independently instead of being micromanaged.
- You get a clear path toward more advanced diagnostics, repair work, and our Senior Technician level.
- You work for a company trying to raise the standard for professionalism, communication, and customer experience in the pool industry.
- You get year-round work through openings, closings, repairs, spas, and winter service—not just summer cleaning.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Residential pool openings and closings.
- Average and minor pool and spa repairs.
- Troubleshooting pumps, filters, circulation issues, and common equipment problems.
- Routine equipment inspections and identifying legitimate repair needs.
- Spa service and cleaning, including winter spa work.
- Occasional commercial pool cleaning, service, and chemistry work.
- Basic water-quality troubleshooting and recognizing when chemistry requires escalation.
- Accurately identifying parts, documenting what is needed, and helping prevent unnecessary return trips.
- Professional communication with homeowners and commercial customers.
- Complete Jobber notes, photos, parts needs, work completed, and next steps.
- Keeping your work area, tools, truck, and parts organized.
- Knowing when a problem is yours to solve and when it needs to be escalated to a Senior Technician.
WHO THRIVES HERE
- You take ownership without needing someone to chase you.
- You like solving mechanical problems.
- You care whether the repair actually fixed the issue.
- You communicate early when something changes.
- You are comfortable talking with customers and explaining what you found.
- You keep your work organized.
- You would rather ask a smart question than make an expensive guess.
- You want to keep getting better at the trade.
- You take pride in being dependable.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO ALREADY KNOW
- Hands-on pool and/or spa service experience.
- How to independently open and close residential pools.
- How normal pool circulation and filtration systems operate.
- How to troubleshoot and complete common pool and spa repairs.
- Working familiarity with pumps, filters, heaters, plumbing, and common equipment.
- Basic water chemistry and safe chemical handling.
- How to work independently in the field while communicating with the team.
- How to interact professionally with customers.
- How to recognize when a repair exceeds your current technical authority.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to safely perform the physical requirements of field-service work.
Experience with Pentair, Hayward, Jandy/Fluidra, pool automation, hot tubs/spas, commercial pools, CPO/PHTA training, or manufacturer certifications is valuable.
COMPENSATION
$40,000 annual base salary 10% profit share on jobs.
We designed the compensation this way for a reason: you should have the security of a dependable base while also participating financially when excellent work creates profitable jobs.
The profit share is based on job profit—not simply revenue—and is calculated according to Briva’s written job-profit formula.
Illustrative example only: if qualifying jobs credited to you generate $100,000 in job profit over a year, a 10% profit share would equal $10,000 in additional compensation on top of the $40,000 base salary.
That example is not a guarantee of earnings. Actual profit share depends on the jobs performed, job profitability, and the terms of Briva’s compensation plan, which will be explained clearly during the hiring process.
We do not want technicians selling customers things they do not need. We want technicians who diagnose accurately, identify legitimate problems, scope work correctly, reduce callbacks, communicate well, and complete profitable work at a high standard.
YOUR PATH FROM HERE
Internally, Briva calls this the Master Technician I level.
The next technical level is Senior Pool & Spa Service Technician, internally classified as Master Technician II (MT2).
Advancement is based on demonstrated mastery—not simply time in the seat. Areas that move a technician toward Senior level include:
- Advanced diagnostics.
- Major pool and spa repairs.
- Automatic pool-cover service and repair.
- Tile repair.
- More advanced plumbing and electrical troubleshooting related to pool equipment.
- Automation and controls.
- The ability to independently own difficult service calls.
- The ability to help develop less-experienced technicians.
WHY BRIVA
Briva Pool & Spa is a family-owned Treasure Valley company built around three operating standards: Speed, Quality, and Customer Service.
Our customers should feel that owning a pool or spa is easier because Briva has it handled.
That requires technicians who care about the details.
We are growing, improving our systems, and intentionally building a technical team where excellent field people can build real careers. The people joining now will have the opportunity to help shape how Briva performs service, trains technicians, manages quality, and grows.
THE FIRST STEP IS SIMPLE
You do not need to write an essay or complete a long application just to talk with us.
Send us your résumé, LinkedIn profile, or a short description of your pool/spa experience.
In your response, tell us:
- What pool and spa work can you confidently own today without someone standing beside you?
- What is one repair or service problem you are especially good at solving?
- What would make your next job meaningfully better than the one you have now?
If your experience lines up, we’ll start with a straightforward conversation.
