Job Summary
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals navigating their recovery journey in the behavioral health system. The Certified Peer Specialist will engage with clients through mentoring, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing techniques to foster resilience and promote self-advocacy.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, sharing personal experiences to help them navigate their recovery process.
- Utilize crisis management and intervention skills to assist clients during challenging situations.
- Conduct motivational interviewing sessions to empower clients in setting and achieving their personal goals.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals and social workers to develop individualized care plans.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on skill-building, coping strategies, and peer support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients' needs within the behavioral health system, ensuring access to necessary resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following experience or skills:
- Background in behavioral health systems, with a strong understanding of mental health counseling principles.
- Experience in crisis management and intervention techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing practices to effectively engage clients.
- Knowledge of addiction counseling methodologies is a plus.
- Prior experience in mentoring or support roles within social work or related fields is beneficial.
