This is a pivotal hands-on leadership role for someone with a genuine swim/aquatics background who loves working with kids, has the skill to improve swim technique for young adults and adults, and wants a long-term role to grow into. Your leadership will drive the success of our aquatics program, while serving the community by reducing the risk of childhood drowning (the number one cause of accidental death among children)
What you'll do
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of diverse aquatics programs and events to maximize community engagement and participation.
- Supervise and manage a team of swim instructors and deck ambassadors, ensuring lesson quality, safety, and excellent customer service and support staff
- Oversee daily operations at the aquatic facilities, including shift management, guest services, and safety protocols
- Assist the owners with hiring, training, and day-to-day staff scheduling
- Operate and oversee our scheduling and customer management system (Jackrabbit), assisting with enrollments, class scheduling, and family communication
- Be a reliable, professional point of contact for parents
- Support local marketing and community outreach to grow enrollment
What you need (REQUIRED)
- Proven aquatics experience
- Experience working with children 3 months
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Excellent managerial communication skills coupled with team management & supervisory experience to foster a positive work environment
- Prior experience in events management within a hospitality or resort environment is highly desirable.
- Technical proficiency computer operations, including Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
- Strong organizational skills; comfort learning and owning a scheduling/CRM system
- Consistent availability, with flexibility to grow hours as the program grows
- Current lifeguard certification, or willingness to obtain quickly (at the owners' expense)
- Willingness/ability to complete extensive online training and travel for in-person aquatics training (location TBD - hourly rate paid and travel expenses covered)
Nice to have
- Experience teaching swim lessons
- Swim team and/or swim coaching experience
- Experience with Jackrabbit or a similar class-management/CRM platform
- Marketing, social media, or local outreach experience
This is not a fit if
- You need a schedule built around a full class load (student availability doesn't work for this role)
- You're looking for short-term or purely seasonal work
When applying, please include your aquatics/swim instructing/coaching background, any relevant certifications you hold (lifeguard, swim instructor, CPR, AED, etc), and your availability. Full time students need not apply.
