Overview
A family on the Upper East Side is seeking a full-time laundress to join their fully-staffed home. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. Flexibility is key, and additional days may be requested, in addition to four days per week (10hr days) in Southampton during July and August. This position is seeking longevity and is hiring immediately.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the House Manager
- The Laundress at the residence is responsible for:
- Perform all household laundry
- Washing, steaming, and mending of clothing
- Ironing clothing and linens
- Putting away all household laundry and linens
- Maintenance of the owners’ wardrobe
- Part of a team that maintains the primary residence and assists at other seasonal homes, as needed
- Point of contact for all items going to repair and dry cleaners
- Inspect and organize all closets and drawers of all rooms that are being used by the family and guests daily
- Sort and inventory all clothing and linen that is sent in /out of house (by photos and written inventory)
- Work with housekeepers in packing and unpacking the owners for travel
- Inspect all clothing and linen for stains and repairs. (Inventory all items that are sent in/out of house, i.e. Best Reweaving, dry cleaners)
- Maintain laundry supply inventory
- Responsible for the seasonal organization of clothing and the storage of clothing in the basement and closets.
- Clean laundry room and maintain equipment (deep clean laundry room once a week)
- Clean staff room and staff bathroom once a week
Requirements
- Must be legal to work in the US
- Prior laundress experience
- Comfortable handling couture clothing
- Good communication and organization skills
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable working with dogs in the home
- Must have longevity in prior roles.
Salary and Benefits
The family is offering $50/hr , depending on experience, along with a full benefits package to include:
- Medical, dental, and vision after sixty days
20 days of paid vacation, after accrued
5 sick days
8 paid holidays (If worked, holiday pay or alternative day off)
